Fianna Fáil has said it does not receive any advertising revenue from a magazine, the Nation, which is described as the "official publication" for the organisation.

The party has rejected claims by Labour TD, Ms Joan Burton, that it used the publication to "solicit" funds for political purposes. She highlighted adverts in the latest edition of the magazine from building firms, including Bovale Developments.

Fianna Fáil said Ms Burton's claims were without foundation and accused her of misleading the public. While the latest edition of the Nation carries more than two dozen adverts from building industry interests, the party said in a statement that all advertising income is retained by the company responsible for its production, Correspondent Media Ltd.

The company is 50 per cent owned by Mr Conor Lenihan, the Fianna Fáil TD who edits the magazine. The other 50 per cent is owned by Mr Mairtín Breathnach, a media consultant.
