A SPECIAL tax allowance for homemakers who give up work to rear their children will be included in Fianna Fail's general election manifesto.
Party sources confirmed yesterday the homemaker bonus is intended as an additional allowance for the working" spouse if the other spouse gives up a job to stay at home.
The allowance is one of the new proposals contained in Fianna Fail's economic and tax strategy document, which will, be published after the election is called.
Meanwhile, Fianna Fail will publish its proposals for the abolition of water charges and the financing of local government, in advance of its ardfheis next weekend.
