Two political opinion polls published today have suggested a slight dip in support for Fianna Fail with just weeks remaining to the general election.

With the date of the election still not confirmed, the newspaper opinion polls also offer good news for the Opposition parties.

In the Sunday Business Post, the latest monthly Red C poll shows government party support has fallen one percentage point to 35 per cent while with Fine Gael enjoyed a four point jump to 27 per cent.

However, the results for the Opposition are tempered by the fact that support for the Labour Party dropped one point to 11 per cent.

Support for the Progressive Democrats remains at 3 per cent, which is unchanged. The Green Party has seen its support rise by one point to 9 per cent while support for Independents and others are down one point to 7 per cent.

A Millward Brown IMS poll in the Sunday Independentalso shows a fall in Fianna Fail support, down one to 38 per cent, with a rise for Fine Gael which has gained one to 23 per cent.

Labour support remains unchanged at 12 per cent, the PDs slip one to 4 per cent, the Greens gain one to 6 per cent , Sinn Féin are also up one to 8 per cent, while Independents and Others are down two to 8 per cent.
