The Lord Mayor of Dublin Gerry Breen and former TDs Deirdre Clunes, Tom Sheahan and Michael D'Arcy are among the nominees selected by Fine Gael to contest the Seanad election.
Also selected to contest the election is outgoing senator Fidelma Healy-Eames, who lost out on a Dáil seat in Galway West in the general election.
Fianna Fáil confirmed its list of candidates for the Seanad election yesterday.
The list of Fine Gael nominees are as follows:
Cultural and education panel nominees: Deirdre Clune (former Cork South Central TD); Cllr Liam Quinn (Offaly County Council) and Cllr Bill Tormey (Dublin City Council).
Agricultural panel nominees: Cllr John Bailey (Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council); Cllr Pat Burton (Cork County Council); Michael Comiskey (Chair of Sligo-North Leitrim Constituency Executive);Cllr Peter Feeney (Galway County Council) and Cllr Colm Markey (Louth County Council).
Labour panel nominees: Fidelma Healy Eames (Senator); Cllr Cáit Keane (South Dublin County Council); Cllr Tony Mulcahy (Clare County Council) and Cllr Neale Richmond (Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council).
Industrial and Commercial panel nominees: Cllr Gerry Breen (Lord Mayor of Dublin); Cllr Colm Brophy (South Dublin County Council); Cllr Peter Burke, Jnr (Westmeath County Council) and Cllr Tom McHugh (Galway County Council).
Administrative panel nominees: Michael D'Arcy (former TD in Wexford); Cllr Kieran Dennison (Fingal County Council); Cllr Mary Hannah Hourigan (Tipperary SR County Council) and Tom Sheahan (former TD in Kerry South).
Voting for the 24th Seanad concludes on April 27th.
