Mr Billy Timmins, Fine Gael TD for Wicklow, has said he was not at fault in an accident on Wednesday night, in which a pedestrian was injured.
The incident took place after 11 pm on the road between Tallaght and Blessington as Mr Timmins drove home from the Dáil to Baltinglass.
His Mercedes hit a man a few miles north of Jobstown in Tallaght.
The man was recovering at Tallaght hospital yesterday.

His injuries are believed to include a broken leg and arm.
In a statement yesterday Mr Timmins said he was "involved in an unfortunate incident through no fault of my own in which a pedestrian was injured.
"I'm deeply upset by what happened and I hope the injured person makes a full and speedy recovery."
