The two main opposition parties are to hold separate meetings this week to assess the political climate ahead the forthcoming Dáil session.
The Labour parliamentary party and a number of senior party officials gather in Wexford tomorrow for a two-day meeting at which they will be given a detailed assessment of the current economic situation in the run-up to the budget.
A spokesman said the meeting will also exam the political fallout of the Laffoy resignation.
The Fine Gael parliamentary party is to hold a two-day meeting in the Great Southern Hotel in Killarney at which there is expected to be a number of meetings on the resignation of Ms Justice Laffoy from the child-abuse commission.
The party will also set out preliminary plans for next year's local and European elections after a disastrous result in last year's General Election.
Last week the Labour leader Mr Pat Rabbitte said he had written to the leaders of Fine Gael and the Greens, proposing the three parties jointly table a motion of no confidence in the Government following the resignation of Ms Justice Laffoy.
Mr Rabbitte described the Government's behaviour as "reprehensible", saying it had acted with neglect and obstruction in relation to the commission.
The Labour Party also plans to unveil details of a major national recruitment campaign at the meeting.
