Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny today unveiled an interactive poster that allows people to vote on the Lisbon Treaty and watch a running tally of results.
The “Opinionator” street ad, which will be found in venues such as bus shelter panels across Dublin, has an electronic display that gives people the option to vote Yes or No and then see how their vote impacted on the tally.
“Engaging campaign ads such as this are designed to draw attention to participating in the vote on the Lisbon Treaty, and I believe that Fine Gael’s ‘Opinionator’ will have a positive effect on turnout come June 12th," Mr Kenny said.
The Fine Gael leader said he hoped such campaigning tools would stimulate discussion on the Treaty and aid a bigger turnout.
“As we have seen from previous referenda, turnout has been all important. When referenda are held separately from general, local and European elections, there is often a lower turnout.”
Mr Kenny said he believed the more people know about the Treaty, the more they are likely to back it. He also urged everyone, no matter what their opinion, to vote on June 12th.
