REPORTS that former member of Fine Gael Mr George Jones was rejoining the party and was being put on the ticket in the forthcoming general election in the Wicklow constituency by the Taoiseach, Mr Bruton, were "factually incorrect", Mr Jones said.

"On going discussions" were taking place. There had been a number of gestures by Mr Bruton to him and the others who had left the party six years ago and had set up their own party, Voice of Wicklow. "The Taoiseach issued a statement last weekend to say he was making efforts to heal the rift in Wicklow. The Voice of Wicklow is considering this."

Mr Jones said it was incorrect to say the Taoiseach had put him on the ticket when no candidates had been selected yet.
