A forensic scientist has told a jury that green fibres found on the clothing of an alleged rape victim provided "slight support" for the contention that a green fleece jacket in the possession of the defendant had been in contact with her. Dr Mary Giblin was giving evidence on the second day of the trial in the Central Criminal Court of a 39-year-old Welshman who denies raping a 21-year-old Englishwoman at Nimmo's pier in Galway on June 5th, 1999.
The trial continues.
