Oscar-winning French composer Maurice Jarre, who composed music for films including Doctor Zhivagoand Lawrence of Arabia, has died in Los Angeles at 84.
Mr Jarre, who received a lifetime achievement award at the Berlin International Film Festival in February, died after an illness.
He won three Oscars with arrangements for Lean films:
Lawrence of Arabia,
Doctor Zhivagoand
A Passage to India.
Mr Jarre's death was announced by the manager of his son, electronic music pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre.
