The Bishop of Limerick, Dr Donal Murray, will celebrate the last Mass in a historic church, which will close its doors for the final time next week.
Dr Murray recently returned to his normal duties in Limerick following a short sabbatical for health reasons.
The farewell Mass will take place in the Jesuit church of the Sacred Heart on June 30th, marking the end of nearly 150 years of worship.
Members of the Jesuit community are expected to vacate the church and adjoining residence at the start of July following the sale of the property earlier this year.
Plans for future usage of the church, which is a protected structure, have yet to be confirmed by the new owner, Galway businessman John O'Dolan.
Mr O'Dolan bought the property for an estimated €4 million.
The Jesuit order announced last year that it was closing its Limerick church citing a fall in vocations and pointing to an abundance of Catholic churches in the city.
Just five priests remain in the Jesuit community in Limerick and their average age is 77. The Jesuits stressed they would maintain their commitment to Limerick with plans for a new spiritual centre in the city.
The spiritual centre will be housed initially in the grounds of the Crescent comprehensive school while some of the proceeds of the church sale may be used to purchase a permanent home at a later date.
