Seventy-five gardaí based at Finglas have threatened to strike over conditions at the Garda Station.
The officers say they will no longer report for duty from March 1st unless the "dilapidated" station is revamped.
Labour Party Dublin North West TD Ms Roisín Shortall said today she "fully supports" the gardaí, who are forced to work in "appalling" conditions at a station that has been the subject of concerns for the past 20 years.
"Besides the health and safety aspects of having no female bathrooms or the frequent sightings of rodents, the station is tiny, has no closed-circuit television system, and the lack of privacy makes it an entirely inappropriate place for the public to interface with gardaí," Ms Shorthall said.
She accused Garda management and the Office of Public Works of dragging their heels over the upgrading of the station.
"Unfortunately a live crime problem exists in particular pockets of Finglas. Were the Garda Station to be unmanned even for a day, the public would feel vulnerable and exposed."
