Republic of Ireland and Fulham full back Steve Finnan has agreed to join Liverpool, a report claimed today.

The deal is believed to be worth between three and four million pounds sterling, according to Sky Sportswhile Liverpool's official website claims it will go through as soon as tomorrow.

The Limerick-born player has been linked with Gerard Houllier's side for a number of months now and would become the first signing of the summer for the Anfield club.

Finnan, who made 200 appearances for the Cottagers after a moving there from Notts County for stg£200,000, will compete with Jamie Carragher for the Liverpool right back berth.

Finnan will be greeted on his arrival by former Fulham coach Christian Damiano, who last week made the same move to join up with compatriot Houllier and the rest of the Anfield backroom staff.
