Liverpool will be without Republic of Ireland defender Steve Finnan for their UEFA Cup second round, second leg with Steaua Bucharest.

Finnan damaged a calf muscle at Middlesbrough on Saturday and could be out for a month, and manager Gerard Houllier will probably turn to Senegalese international Salif Diou for a replacement.

There is also a doubt over teenage striker Florent Sinama-Pongolle, who picked up an ankle injury in the same match.

Dietmar Hamann and Stephane Henchoz are both fit and available after recovering from injury. Liverpool have lost only two of their last 14 European matches, and after a disappointing season need to beat the Romanians to ensure European competition in the New Year.
