The family of murdered solicitor Mr Pat Finucane has been meeting with Northern Secretary Dr John Reid at Stormont today.
Following a brief meeting between Mrs Finucane, her daughter Katherine and Dr Reid in Washington last March, where Mr Finucane’s murder and the family’s demand for an international public judicial inquiry were discussed, Dr Reid arranged for today’s lengthier meeting.
Mrs Finucane was accompanied to Stormont by her daughter Katherine, son, Michael and the family’s legal advisor Mr Peter Madden.
The meeting comes ahead of a decision by the Irish and British governments to appoint a judge to look into a number of cases, including the murder of Mr Finucane.
The judge will decide whether an inquiry should be established into each case.
Before the meeting this morning Mrs Finucane said the family would raise their concerns over the forthcoming appointment of the international judge.
"We have shared our views and concerns with the Irish government over a considerable period of time about this matter and now we are doing this formally with the British government," she said.
