Dublin Fire Brigade will see more than 40 new firefighters join its ranks later today.

Dublin Fire Brigade will see more than 40 new firefighters join its ranks later today.

After successfully completing 24 weeks of training, the new recruits will pass out at the brigade's training centre in Marino.

The programme included paramedic and emergency medical training, basic fire training, and specialist instruction in fire behaviour, traffic accident procedures and dealing with hazardous substances.

The group will now work alongside their professional fire fighter colleagues at stations across the city and county.

The Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Anne Carter and City Manager John Tierney will attend the ceremony, which includes a performance by the Dublin Fire Brigade Pipe Band.
