Firefighters have been shot at as they returned to their base in Northern Ireland.
A gunman blasted the fire engine in Derry with a laser-sighted air rifle, cracking a cab window.
No-one was injured in the attack on the team from the city's Northland Road station just before 11pm last night.
But the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service hit out at the thugs targeting staff.
A spokesman said: "We would like to highlight the dangers and seriousness of this attack and would appeal to the local community that if they have any information on this attack to make it known to the police.
"Not only were the lives of firefighters involved in this incident at risk, but also members of the publics' lives are also put at risk with mindless attacks like this upon emergency services."
