As a result of fog, which at times enveloped the Dublin area on Wednesday afternoon, the second Aer Lingus airliner returning from Liverpool found conditions at Baldonnel rather difficult for landing, and advantage was taken of the somewhat better conditions prevailing at the new Dublin airport at Collinstown, where a successful landing was subsequently effected.
This was, therefore, the first time an airliner carrying passengers used the new airport. In the very near future, Irish Civil Aviation will have its new headquarters at Collinstown.
The airport is noted for being remarkably free from fog.
