Three women and two men from Dublin are due before Galway District Court today charged with assaulting a Garda.
They were among a group of six Romanians who appeared before a special sitting of Galway District Court yesterday afternoon after being arrested in Clifden.
Ms Simona Velcu (24), Ms Titana Sardaru (37), Ms Loredana Velcu (21), Mr Alin Boboaca (26), Mr Christian Dumitru (25), and Mr Ion Sardaru were remanded in custody by Judge Mary Fahy to appear before Galway District Court again today.
Five of the accused, including the three women, were charged with assaulting Sgt Senan Wall at Ardbear, Clifden, last Saturday, November 20th.
One of the men was charged with obstructing Garda Eamon Donoghue and with giving a false name and address, while another was charged with assaulting Garda Michael Griffin, obstructing him, dangerous driving, being in possession of an imitation insurance disc and with not having insurance on the same occasion.
