Two restaurants in Dublin and a deli in Ballina were served with closure orders last month, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland said today.

Twenty Four K Limited and the Da Dong Bei BBQ Restaurant on Parnell Street were ordered to close over food safety breaches. The orders have yet to be lifted.

The FSAI also ordered the butchery area of Station Road Deli in Ballina, Co Mayo to shut over the handling of raw meat. The order was lifted five days later.

Prohibition orders were served on Sheehan’s pub in Chatham Street,  Dublin 2 and Keogh's Traditional Bar on Main Street, Longford.

A closure order is issued if the FSAI rules there is or there is likely to be a grave and immediate danger to public health in the food premises. The order can refer to the immediate closure of all or part of the food premises, or all or some of its activities.

Businesses are served with prohibition orders if their activities involve or are likely to involve a serious risk to public health from a particular product, class, batch or item of food.
