Five people have been shot and wounded as spectators left a high school basketball game in Chicago.
People fled into the street on the city’s South Side after the five men - three in a serious condition and two critically injured - were shot at Paul Laurence Dunbar Vocational Career Academy at around 8pm yesterday.
A hospital spokesmen said later that at least three were expected to be treated and released.
According to witnesses, the game was in overtime and some students began to leave the building when a vehicle then drove up and a person or people inside started shooting into the crowd.
No suspect has been identified or arrested but the shooting was “isolated” and possibly gang-related, police said. Two hundred officers are in the area looking for suspects
The high school has about 1,600 pupils and is the alma mater of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson.
