Flash floods after the heavy rains hit Dublin yesterday morning and caused disruption to early traffic.
The flooding was worst in Blackrock and Dún Laoghaire but abated during the day as the rain generally eased off.
A spokesman for Dún Laoghaire/Rathdown County Council said the floods were worst around the Blackrock end of the Rock Road and near Blackrock College and also at Crofton Road in Dún Laoghaire.
"We are aware of the problems at these points and are carrying out pipe and drainage works to rectify them," the spokesman said.
An AA Roadwatch spokeswoman said the worst affected areas in Dublin were on the south side. "There was some minor flooding but nowhere was impassable and it was very localised," she said.
Last night, there was some flooding on Newcastle Road, Lucan, although it remained passable.
In Dublin city there were no reports of flooding. A city council spokeswoman said traffic was moving as usual for a Friday. In the Fingal County Council area, preventive measures were taken on Wednesday night and Thursday morning during the worst of the storm.
Two drainage crews worked in coastal areas cleaning drainage screens and providing sandbags to "at risk" areas.
Sandbags were provided to the King Sitric restaurant in Howth and to premises along the coast at Holmpatrick Terrace and Strand Road, Skerries.
