Aer Lingus services to the United States are scheduled to operate as normal today on trans-Atlantic routes despite the state of emergency due to Hurricane Isabel.
A spokeswoman said flights today had so far gone without delay and that the weekend's flights are due to operate as normal.
In other traffic and travel news, extra volumes of traffic are expected on the N7 this weekend due to an equestrian event at Punchestown. Some 150,000 people are expected to attend the cross-country event tomorrow. The event continues until Sunday evening at 6 p.m.
In Dublin, Tara Street Dart station will be closed this weekend for building work. No trains will stop at the station on either Saturday or Sunday; trains will stop at Pearse and Connolly stations as normal. Passengers using the number 90 bus link to Heuston station should get off at Connolly.
Iarnrod Éireann has also warned of disruption to DART services at Bray station due to track renewal works. Services will operate to and from Dalkey station only from 9 p.m. tomorrow night. Passengers for Killiney, Shankill, Bray or Greystones stations should get off at Dun Laoghaire station, where shuttle buses will be in operation.
Pre-assigned cards will be required for travel on some trains on Sunday due to track improvement works between Lisduff and Thurles and the All-Ireland Camogie Finals at Croke Park between Cork and Tipperary.
Bus transfers will also be in operation on train services that stop at Portlaoise and Thurles and delays of 30 to 40 minutes should be expected, according to Iarnrod Éireann. Details of the trains affected are available on Iarnrod Éireann's website at www.irishrail.ie
To facilitate a bicycle picnic in the Phoenix Park on Sunday, Military Road from the Islandbridge Gate to the Chapelizod Gate and Glen Road will close between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Motorists should also note that Monday, September 22nd, is European Car-Free Day. Nineteen towns and cities throughout Ireland will take part. However, the ongoing Luas works in Dublin mean that many streets cannot be closed for the event as in previous years.
