New revelations concerning Liam Lawlor’s financial dealings were heard in the High Court today.

Mr Frank Clarke SC, for the Flood tribunal, told the court that solicitor Mr John Caldwell gave Lawlor some £350,000 during the 1990’s.
The court also heard that property developer Mr Sean Mulryan gave the former Fianna Fail TD a total of £50,000 between 1994 and 1998.
It also emerged today Lawlor used Irish bank accounts in his son’s name partly or solely for his own benefit. The accounts, held in the name of Niall Lawlor, at one point contained £322,000.
Lawlor is back in court over the long-running dispute between him and the Flood Tribunal over orders for discovery of documentation relating to his financial affairs.
Lawyers for the tribunal told Mr Justice Thomas Symth they believed that Lawlor had not given them full discovery of documentation relating to his financial dealings.
Mr Clarke SC said there had been a "very significant continuing failure by Liam Lawlor to meet his obligations of which the court must take a serious view".
Lawlor was not in court at the start of today’s proceedings but arrived soon after when Mr Justice Symth had advised his counsel that it would be to Lawlor’s benefit to be in court.
The court will resume again tomorrow at 11 a.m.
