Motorists in Co Galway are facing delays of up to two hours on the N6 Galway to Dublin road due to flooding.
AA Roadwatch has reported that the road through Craughwell is almost totally impassable and motorists have been advised to avoid this area completely.
Met Eireann has issued a gale warning for tonight with strong to gale force winds predicted especially in Connacht and Ulster.
Meanwhile, Iarnrod Eireann has laid on buses to bring passengers from Longford to Dromod on the Dublin to Sligo line after a river burst its banks, flooding the tracks. The company hopes to restore full service on the line some time tomorrow.
