Two people were recovering in hospital last night following a stabbing in Limerick city early yesterday morning.
The two flower-sellers were stabbed after a row broke out between a number of Romanian nationals.
The disturbance occurred outside a popular nightclub in the Michael Street area of the city shortly after 1am.
One 23-year-old man suffered multiple injuries after he was stabbed in the leg, chest and neck.
A second man, aged 30, was injured after he was stabbed in the leg in the same attack.
Both men were taken to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital where their conditions were described yesterday as "stable".
According to gardaí up to seven people were involved in the row which was recorded on CCTV cameras located nearby.
"One man suffered a number of injuries but fortunately none of them were life-threatening.
A second man was also hospitalised after he was stabbed in leg," said a Garda spokesman.
"It appears that there was around seven people involved in the row but just one man had the knife," he added.
It is understood the two victims had been selling roses in a number of bars in Limerick before they were injured in the knife attack.
Gardaí have appealed to anybody who was in the Michael Street area of Limerick city at around 1am yesterday and who may have witnessed the incident to contact Henry Street Garda Station on (061) 212400.
No arrests have yet been made.
