Birmingham City's Barclays Premiership clash with Bolton Wanderers tonight was called off because of fog at St Andrews.
Referee Phil Dowd completed an initial inspection of the ground immersed in fog but did not postpone the fixture until 6.55pm, just prior to gates opening for supporters.
The pitch was playable but the poor visibility could be considered a danger to players and fans. Officials now must arrange a new date for the fixture.
A victory tonight would have been welcome for Steve Bruce's troubled side but would not have moved them off their second-from-bottom position in the table with Everton four points above them.
The postponement denies Bolton the chance to move second in the table. A victory would have put them above Wigan Athletic after their defeat Arsenal on Saturday.
