A soccer player punched a member of the opposing team in the face, breaking his nose and six teeth during an amateur league match in Dungannon, Cookstown Magistrate's court heard yesterday.
Donal Laverty (30), unemployed, of Ballyoran Park, Portadown, was conditionally discharged for two years after admitting a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm. His solicitor, Ms Fionnuala O'Hagan, said Laverty was provoked by a sectarian remark.
