Foran out with broken cheekbone

Carlisle striker Richie Foran is expected to be out for three weeks after having surgery on a broken cheekbone.

Carlisle striker Richie Foran is expected to be out for three weeks after having surgery on a broken cheekbone.

The 22-year-old Dubliner needed to have three metal plates inserted after a collision with Bournemouth striker Chukki Eribenne in the 3-1 defeat at Dean Court on September 29th.

A club spokesman said: "It's a massive blow. He did it against Bournemouth when he was defending a corner. He had three plates inserted on Wednesday, and will hopefully be back for our FA Cup first-round tie on November 16th.

"He looks a lot better than he did, but he's been told to have complete rest for two weeks and then he will be back in training. But it is a big blow as he is our main striker".
