Forfeiture of drugs money

Judge Elizabeth Dunne has ordered the forfeiture of £51,300 cash at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court

Judge Elizabeth Dunne has ordered the forfeiture of £51,300 cash at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. She was told it belonged to a notorious Cork drug-dealing family.

The cash was seized by a Customs officer at Dublin Airport on August 11th, 1998. It was taken from a Cork man who had an open return ticket to Amsterdam. He said he didn't know who was to meet him there to collect it.

Judge Dunne was told that Customs and Excise officials believed the money was being taken to the Netherlands for a man named in an affidavit as Mr John Martin Flynn, otherwise known as "Seanie Flynn", who was caught soon afterwards there with 35,000 ecstasy tablets.

Judge Dunne said she was satisfied the money was intended for use in drugs trafficking and should be forfeited.
