Former Bishop of Cork dies

The former Bishop of Cork, Cloyne and Ross, Dr Gordon Perdue, has died in Timaru, New Zealand, aged 88.

The former Bishop of Cork, Cloyne and Ross, Dr Gordon Perdue, has died in Timaru, New Zealand, aged 88.

After his ordination in 1933, he served as a curate in Dublin for seven years. He was rector of Castledermot for three years and rector of Roscrea for 10 years. In 1951 he was appointed Archdeacon of Killaloe. He was elected Bishop of Killaloe, Kilfenora, Clonfert and Kilmac duagh in 1953 and in 1957, he succeeded Dr George Simms as Bishop of Cork, Cloyne and Ross. He retired in 1978.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn, and two daughters.
