A former garda has claimed in the High Court that she was bullied by her superiors and colleagues in the force to such an extent she eventually had to leave the force due to ill health.

Christine Kehoe, who had been stationed at Wexford and Glynn stations between 1979 and 1996, has alleged reckless infliction of emotional suffering, intimidation and defamation in proceedings brought against the Garda Commissioner, the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform and the Attorney General.

She also claims they wrongfully repudiated her contract of employment. The defendants deny the claims.

Ms Kehoe claims the defendants permitted colleagues to harass, mock, bully and undermine her at both stations. She says she was treated in an unequal manner, isolated and put under pressure.
