Former Fianna Fáil junior minister and TD Lorcan Allen is seeking a nomination for the party in the next general election.
Mr Allen rejoined the party in July of this year after he served a one-year suspension imposed after the circulation of bogus election literature purportedly signed by the Taoiseach during last year's local elections.
His suspension arose following an investigation by the party's rules and procedure committee. Mr Allen admitted sending out over 2,000 letters in the run-up to the local elections.
At the time, Mr Allen apologised to Mr Ahern for using his signature, attributing his action to "the pressurised atmosphere of an intensive election campaign".
Mr Allen represented Wexford in the Dáil for several years and was a minister of state for agriculture under Charles Haughey.
Mr Allen is listed as a candidate for nomination in the Enniscorthy and Gorey electoral area.
The Fianna Fáil candidate selection convention for the Wexford Dáil Constituency will take place on Sunday the 20th of November.
