Miss Tiggy Legge-Bourke, the former royal nanny who clashed with the Princess of Wales, has moved into a cottage at Balmoral so she can be on call to comfort Prince William and Prince Harry 24 hours a day. Miss Legge-Bourke, who is adored by the princes as a "big sister" figure, arrived on the estate shortly before 9 a.m. yesterday. She had been holidaying with the royal family and was due to return home when the princes left Balmoral to be with their mother before the start of the new school term, but stayed on after the news of Princess Diana's death.

She left her job with the royal family three months ago after four years, during which she was widely known to have had a difficult relationship with the princess.

Ms Legge-Bourke was originally hired by Prince Charles as a social secretary, but soon took on more of a nannying role despite Princess Diana's disapproval. The princess criticised her after it was claimed she had become a "surrogate mother".

It also was revealed yesterday that the princess has left most of her estate to her sons, although there will also be sums for other members of her family and her favourite good causes. The princess's will, drawn up at the time of her divorce from Prince Charles, stipulates that the bulk of her estimated £40 million sterling fortune will go to Prince William and Prince Harry.
