GAA president Nickey Brennan has paid tribute to All-Ireland winning Roscommon captain Jimmy Murray, who passed away earlier today.
Murray led Roscommon to football titles in 1943 and 1944 and remains one of just six players to have lifted the Sam Maguire twice. Indeed, had Kerry not triumphed in a replay in 1946, Murray would have captained title winning sides on three occasions.
"Jimmy Murray was not just one of the greatest players of all time, he was also amongst the greatest gentlemen in sport, respected and revered where people discussed man versus man in the playing arena," said Brennan.
