Former stable hand admits molesting girls

A former stable hand has been given a two-year suspended sentence for sexually molesting four young girls

A former stable hand has been given a two-year suspended sentence for sexually molesting four young girls. To protect his victims' identities, the man, now aged 80, cannot be named. He was ordered to pay the victims a total of £12,000 he brought to Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

The man pleaded guilty to indecently assaulting the girls in the 1970s and 1980s. Judge Elizabeth Dunne said that although the crimes were at the lower end of the scale the man had abused a position of trust. However, she would not impose a custodial sentence due to his age and failing health.
