A former Irish national swimming coach today pleaded guilty to raping a woman at a boarding school.
Derry O'Rourke (56) from Edenderry, Co Offaly, is already serving a 12-year sentence for sexual offences involving teenage girls.
At a hearing at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin, O'Rourke pleaded guilty to two charges of raping the woman at the Dublin school in 1977.
He also pleaded guilty to four further charges of indecently assaulting the same woman at the same location between 1975 and 1978.
Mr Justice Paul Carney adjourned sentencing until January 24th next year. Father of six O'Rourke was flanked by gardaí throughout his appearance.
His 12-year sentence in 1998 shocked the sport and led to the introduction of stringent new child protection measures.
In 2000 he was given a further four-year sentence after he pleaded guilty to 19 charges of indecently assaulting young swimmers between 1970 and 1992. The youngest victim was 10 years of age.
