Three men and a woman were last night arrested in connection with a robbery at the home of an elderly woman in Co Galway.
The four were arrested in an English registered van at Kilrickle on the main Galway/Dublin road. They are being held at Ballinasloe Garda Station.
The incident happened shortly after about 10 p.m. last night at the woman's home at Esker, five miles outside Athenry. It is understood that two raiders broke into the house, demanded money then locked the woman, who is 85, into a bedroom. They then ransacked the house.
The woman managed to climb out of a window and raised the alarm an hour later.
