Four charged over Antrim robbery

Four men were tonight charged with a catalogue of offences including armed robbery and possession of guns and drugs.

Four men were tonight charged with a catalogue of offences including armed robbery and possession of guns and drugs.

They were arrested in Co Antrim when police stopped a car following an attempt to rob the post office in Cullybackey yesterday.

A short time earlier four men armed with a hand gun had forced customers in the village Post Office to lie on the floor while they staged a robbery.

Two men aged 20 and two more aged 44 and 39 have been charged with a number of offences including attempted armed robbery and carrying a firearm with criminal intent in relation to the Cullybackey incident.

The 44-year-old and 39-year-old were also charged with possession of firearms in suspicious circumstances, possession of Class A, B and C drugs and possession of class A and B drugs with intent to supply.

One of the 20-year-old men was also charged with attempted robbery - believed to be connected to an incident at Rosses Court in Ballymena on Sunday.

All men are due to appear before Coleraine Magistrates Court tomorrow.
