Four charged over Co Cork 'Real IRA' arms find

Three men, two teenagers and a 21-year-old, were today charged at Cork District Court with membership of the 'Real IRA'.

Three men, two teenagers and a 21-year-old, were today charged at Cork District Court with membership of the 'Real IRA'.

Mr Alan Hickey (18), Mr Brian McSweeney (22) and Mr Anthony Crowley (20) - all from Blarney in Co Cork - were charged with membership of the 'Real IRA'.

Two of the men - Mr Crowley and Mr McSweeney- along with Ms Michelle O'Rourke (22) from Doneraile, were also charged with the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.

The charges follow a series of arrests in Blarney last October after the discovery of a cache of weapons, including a DAK pistol, a shotgun and a considerable quantity of ammunition.

All four will be tried together at the Special Criminal Court.

They were remanded in custody for a month.
