A 25-minute shooting spree through southern California has left at least four people dead and others wounded before the gunman killed himself, police said.
Authorities found at least six crime scenes, Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino said.
The shootings started with an apparent carjacking this morning, said Tustin police supervisor Dave Kanoti. Police then received police reports of shootings in several locations, he said.
The alleged gunman shot himself in the middle of an intersection, Mr Kanoti said.
It is possible more people were shot, Mr Kanoti said, because some people may have chased the shooter.
The conditions of the wounded victims were unknown.
