A 34-year-old woman from Thurles, Co Tipperary, was killed early yesterday in a car accident. Ms Assumpta Kearney died when the car she was travelling in, with four others, hit a ditch at Lyonstown, Cashel, on the Cashel/Clonmel Road.

A man died in a two-vehicle collision three miles from Navan at 1.15 a.m. yesterday. He was Mr Colm Ronaghan (23), of Moynehall, Cavan. The driver of the second vehicle was seriously injured and was taken to Navan General Hospital, where he was described as comfortable.

A pedestrian was killed on Lower Drumcondra Road in Dublin early yesterday. Mr Mark Manson (24), of Elm Mount Rise in Beaumont, died when he was hit by a passing jeep.

A young mother was killed and her two year old daughter seriously injured in a car accident near Youghal, Co Cork yesterday. The woman, who was in her early 20s, from Little Island, Cork city, was a passenger in the car, which crashed at Gortroe, four miles outside Youghal, at 4.50 p.m.
