Three motorcyclists and a car driver were killed in separate accidents over the weekend in Kildare, Monaghan, Waterford and Limerick. A man who died on Sunday night when he was thrown from his motorcycle in Carbury, Co Kildare, was named yesterday as Mr Thomas Jessop (32), from Carbury.

A 73-year-old man was fatally injured when his Honda 50 motorcycle collided with a parked tractor on the Castleblayney-Shercock road near Shantonagh, Co Monaghan, on Sunday evening. Mr Patrick Finnegan, a single man from Corgreagh, Shercock, Co Cavan, was taken to Monaghan General Hospital where he died later.

A motorist died instantly when his vehicle went into a ditch on the Dungarvan-Clonmel road on Saturday night. The accident happened just before midnight at Colligan More, Dungarvan. The dead man was named as Mr Larry Hayes (23), of Killenaule, Thurles, Co Tipperary.

Earlier on Saturday, a motorcyclist in his late 50s died when he collided with a car at Tournafulla, Co Limerick. He was Mr James Moroney, from Knocknadiha, Tournafulla.
