Gardaí from the National Drugs Unit supported by local gardaí are understood to have found the drugs in a car near Kill and on land near Newbridge this morning.

The  car was stopped at Clongorey at around 7.30am and a large quantity of cannabis resin was recovered leading to a series of other raids.

It is believed up to a ton-and-a-half of cannabis may have been recovered. It is being taken to garda headquarters for forensic analysis.  Just two tons of cannabis were recovered by gardaí in Ireland.
