Four men have been arrested in connection with an arms find in Limerick, it emerged this evening.

Gardaí investigating a bitter feud between two families in the city are understood to have raided a house in the Lockmore area on the outskirts of Limerick city this afternoon.

They seized a number of items including an under-car booby trap bomb, one submachine gun and assorted ammunition .

A Garda spokesman said other items - not yet identified - have also been seized.

Four men — one in his forties, one in his sixties and two in their thirties were arrested.

Gardaí said the seizure was part of an ongoing investigation into criminal activities and feuds in the Limerick area.

Over 20 people have been arrested as part of the massive Garda investigation into the murder of Kieran Keane, the Limerick crime boss who was shot dead January 29th this year.

Keane's murder is understood to have part of a feud between two rival families in the city.
