Four people are being held after gardaí intercepted a gang they believed was about to rob a cash-in-transit van.
Two men in their 20s and one man in his 30s were arrested at Knocklyon, Dublin, yesterday afternoon. A woman in her 20s was also arrrested. It is understood that the robbery was planned for the post office in Knocklyon .
Gardaí also searched a car in the Knocklyon area from which they recovered a sawn-off shotgun and a sledge hammer.
The arrests were made as part of a Garda investigation into the activities of criminal gangs involved in cash-in-transit robberies.
The four are being held at Tallaght and Rathfarnham Garda stations.
