A bomb explosion in a church in southwestern Bangladesh todaykilled at least four people and injured eight.

A bomb explosion in a church in southwestern Bangladesh todaykilled at least four people and injured eight.

MrMohammad Faruq Khan, an MP for the ruling Awami League in Gopalganj district, said: "So far I know four people have been killed and eight others have been injured in Jalilpar Catholic Missionary Church."

Unconfirmed reports from Gopalganj, 96 km (60 miles) from Dhaka, put the death toll at nine.

A series of recent bomb blasts has been blamed by the government on Muslim fundamentalist groups.
