Three people were killed in two road accidents near Tuam, Co Galway, yesterday. A woman and her 26-year-old son were killed when their car and an ESB lorry crashed in Milltown village at 3 p.m.
Her husband and mother were injured and taken to Galway Regional Hospital. It is understood that he is not seriously injured but the mother, who is in her 80s, is in a critical condition. The Garda will not release the names of the dead and injured
A short time later, at 4.45 p.m., a man was killed in an accident at Caramoneen, on the Tuam to Barnabeg road, when two lorries collided. The gardai say the driver of one of the lorries, who was in his early 40s, was killed. The second driver was uninjured.
A 40-year-old man was killed in a road crash in Enniskillen Co Fermanagh last night. The man's Renault Clio collided with a Peugeot van and trailer on the Sligo road at around 6.30 p.m.
