Four more people have been killed in road traffic accidents - a man in his 40s in Co Wicklow and a woman and two young children in separate accidents in the North.
In Co Wicklow the 48-year-old man was killed in a single-vehicle collision. The accident happened last night when a car, with four occupants, left the road and hit a ditch at 8.30 p.m. in Corballis, near Rathdrum, Co Wicklow.
The occupants, a couple and their two sons in their mid-20s, were taken to Loughlinstown Hospital. Mr Michael Curran, from Killacloran, Aughrim, Co Wicklow, who was travelling in the passenger seat, died a short time later.
His death brings to 115 the number of people killed on the roads in the Republic this year.
In the North, a woman and two young children died in separate accidents, bringing to 53 the number of people who have died on the roads in the North this year.
A two-year-old boy died after a two-vehicle collision on the Carnteel Road in Aughnacloy, Co Tyrone, at 9.30 a.m. yesterday.
A woman died at the scene of a single vehicle accident at Kilbroney Road, Rostrevor, at 1.30 a.m. yesterday.
In Co Fermanagh, a three-year-old girl died as a result of injuries sustained in a road traffic collision on Monday night.
Ellie Walsh was struck by a car on Railway Road, Belcoo, at 7.15 p.m. She was taken to the Erne Hospital, Enniskillen, but died from her injuries early yesterday.
