Ryanair has announced it is to drop two services but start four new ones this winter.
The low-cost carrier is axing its Shannon-Hamburg and Shannon-Stockholm routes on February 22nd, 2006.
But on the same day, the no-frills airline will begin services from Shannon to Manchester, Rome, Wroclaw in Poland, and Murcia in Spain.
Ryanair chief executive Michael O'Leary said: "Ryanair launched its Shannon base in May and monthly Ryanair traffic at the airport has trebled. Ryanair has delivered dramatic growth at Shannon airport as promised.
"This is good news for business and tourism in the area. The four new routes will mean that over the next year 1.5 million passengers will use Ryanair's Shannon flights, almost one million of whom will be inbound visitors."
Ryanair has also announced it will start flights between Dublin and Lodz in Poland on April 4th. Meanwhile, rival low-cost airline easyJet last week began a new Gatwick-Milan (Malpensa) service.
EasyJet is operating 12 flights a week. The airline expects to carry more than 180,000 passengers during the first 12 months of operation.
